The 31st Summer Universiade is the third time for Chinese Mainland to hold the Summer Universiade after the 2001 Beijing Universiade and the 2011 Shenzhen Universiade, and also the first time for western China to hold the world Multi-sport event. There are a total of 18 sports events, including basketball, volleyball, athletics, and swimming. About 10000 athletes and officials from 170 countries and regions went to Chengdu to participate in this competition.The competition is scheduled to be held from July 28 to August 8, 2023 in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China.
The Chengdu World Congress is a global sports event for youth, serving as a vital platform for cultural exchanges. From the moment track and field athletes sprint onto the field, the film swiftly showcases various Universiade events, such as long jump, diving, table tennis, and fencing, elegantly portraying the demeanor of both Chinese and international young athletes. The second segment of the film captures the enduring sportsmanship deeply ingrained in the citizens of Chengdu, as people of all genders and ages lead comfortable lives and engage in healthy exercise within the city.
In the third part, the film takes an aerial perspective to showcase Chengdu’s Universiade stadiums, including the magnificent Dong’an Lake Sports Park’s main stadium, the swimming and diving hall, and the smaller stadium. Lastly, the film concludes with a collection of clips uniquely highlighting the beauty and significance of Chengdu’s warm welcome to the world for the Universiade.
