iTouchUp to Host City of Compton’s First Esports Tournament and Technology Week
Nonprofit in Collaboration with Hacker Fund Raises Funds for City Youth Technology Incubator

Los Angeles, CA – April 12, 2019 – TouchUp Inc., dba iTouchUp, in partnership with the City of Compton, is excited to announce it will be hosting the Compton Clash starting June 7th. The event will include Compton’s first-ever esports tournament, organized by the Long Beach gaming convention Beachcon, followed by a fully-dedicated Technology Week on June 10-14, sponsored by HackerFund, Virgin Galactic, and the Annenberg Center.

Located at the newly renovated Douglas Dollarhide Community Center, Compton Clash will be a highly interactive week that includes competitive gaming tournaments, a diversity and inclusion summit, and major keynote presentations and workshops from Google and Activision, among others.

In partnership with the nonprofit organization, Hacker Fund, the overall goal is to raise funds to develop a technology incubator for Compton youths seeking a focused environment where they can receive the training, inspiration, and support they need to thrive and succeed.

“This is a big undertaking for our organization as well as the City of Compton. We are excited to team up with Compton to bring the city a comprehensive week of fun, education and exposure to technology,” says Caryn Brandon, Founder & CEO of iTouchUp. “We’re bringing in some heavy-hitting companies to inspire Compton youth on a path towards the technology arena. It is imperative that we impress upon young people in underserved communities – the business and technology career fields are where sustainable income will be found in the near and distant future.”

iTouchUp anticipates an attendance of over 5,000 people throughout the week, featuring students of all ages from the Compton School District and surrounding areas. Special guests and performers attending the event are to be announced at a future date.

All proceeds to iTouchUp will go towards the city’s state-of-the-art business and technology incubator. To donate to iTouchUp for the incubator, please visit https://www.itouchup.org/.
